Purpose
Stretch film is used for packaging goods. The product is wrapped with a stretch film that holds it firmly in place.
The most common machine stretch film has a stretch level of 150% and is intended for common packaging machines that have an electromagnetic brake. It is especially suitable for packaging heavy materials, where there is no risk of deformation of the goods. It is also used for goods with sharp edges, such as bricks. The higher the elasticity of the stretch film, the more stable it is when it comes to holding the material on a pallet.
Machine stretch film is most often used on packaging lines.
Colour
Stretch film can be produced in multiple colours, which are mostly available on request. The most common colour of the film is transparent white or black. The colour of the foil is important especially for storing goods in locations that are exposed to unwanted sunlight, or when it is necessary to hide the contents of the pallet.
By default, stretch films are transparent. Opaque colours are available up to a thickness of 15 µm.
Thickness
The thickness of the film should be chosen based on the type of packaged goods. Film of lower thickness is mostly used for packaging easily deformable or fragile goods. Film of higher thickness can resist mechanical damage much better and is ideal for packaging goods with sharp edges.
Film with a protective UV filter
Stretch film can be supplied with a protective filter against UV radiation. This type of film is treated for long-term storage of goods on outdoor surfaces. The UV filter protects the goods from sunlight, which would degrade the film. Thanks to the protective UV filter, the film will retain its original quality over a long period of time in the sun.
Commonly, the foil with a UV filter is delivered with a 6-month guaranteed treatment. A 9, 12 or 18 month guaranteed treatment is also available on request.
External cling side
Stretch film, which is sticky on the outside and slippery on the inside, is used for packaging of goods when internal stickiness to the goods is not desirable. With sticky films, adhesion of the film to itself and the fixation of the goods are both improved, which leads to lower consumption of film during packaging.
Internal cling side
Stretch film, which is sticky on the inside and slippery on the outside, is used for packaging of goods that can have undesirable outside adhesion during offloading. With adhesive films, mutual adhesion of the film and fixation of the goods are improved, which leads to lower consumption of film during packaging.
